Armonico Consort is celebrating its 20th birthday has set up its first community choir for people living with dementia and their carers. The Warwick Memory Singers launched on 22 September, in association with the Alzheimer’s Society’s ‘Singing for the Brain’ initiative which has provided specialist training for its musicians. Weekly rehearsals will include warm-ups and singing familiar songs but there is also an emphasis on socialising and a chance to enjoy a piece of classical music performed by one of Armonico's musicians.
Funds to support the new choir are being raised by Oz Clarke. The wine writer and broadcaster has led Oz & Armonico's Great Bike Adventure, a 130-mile cycle ride giving mini concerts at six care homes along the route.
If you feel a family member or someone you care for may benefit from being part of the Warwick Memory Singers, please sign up via the online registration form.
