The Benedetti Foundation will begin its new round of Virtual Sessions next month. The Baroque Virtual Sessions will run from 26 September – 2 October.

The scheme will begin with a four-day social media event from 26 – 30 September during which the foundation will release expert participation and information videos to help participants gear up for the live sessions on 1 and 2 October.

Participants may join any of the nine sessions and attend as many as they want. The sessions will be led by a team of guest artists and are open to students of all ages and abilities. The session programme will kick off with ‘woodwind in the baroque period’ with Leo Duarte before moving on to topics including ‘exploring baroque violin’ with violinist Rachel Podger, ‘harpsichord in action’ with Steven Devine and even ‘discover the lute’ with Elizabeth Kenny. All sessions will be recorded and will be available to watch back within three months.

Participants must register by 30 September in order to receive the information ahead of October’s live weekend. There is a participation fee of £15 per person. However, if financial circumstances will affect attendance, candidates can tick the box on the registration form to apply for a bursary.

Nicola Benedetti said: ‘This music can unlock a freedom inside of us. I have experienced it myself and I am desperate for everyone else to experience that too. I really hope you will join our incredible team of Baroque musicians to discover more about this joyous music.’
