The Brazilian soprano's debut album is set to be released in September this year
Brazilian male soprano, Bruno de Sá, has signed an exclusive contract with Warner Classics-Erato with his debut album, Roma travestita, set to be released in September this year.
De Sá’s first album of the partnership was recorded with Il Pomo d’Oro and conductor Francesco Corti and explores post-1588 repertoire from a period when male singers portrayed female characters as women were banned by the pope from public performance.
Alain Lanceron, president of Warner Classics and Erato, said: ‘As a male soprano, Bruno de Sá makes an immediate impact. He sustains that impact with tone that is luminous and seamless throughout his voice – from the highest to the lowest notes – and with artistry of consistent elegance and insight.’
Having begun singing at an early age de Sá made his professional debut in 2013 in São Paulo before making his German debut in 2016. With accolades including prizes at the Maria Callas Competition, the Manhattan International Music Competition and the Concorso Spiros Argiris, de Sá received an OPER! Award for Best Newcomer of the Year in 2020 and was also a member of Theater Basel’s young artists’ programme, singing in the world premiere of Jherek Bischoff’s Andersens Erzählungen.
De Sá says: ‘I am overwhelmed with joy to join the Warner Classics / Erato roster beside all these incredible artists that have inspired me to sing. Only a few years ago, I left my homeland with a suitcase full of dreams… I cannot believe I achieved so much so quickly!’
Paris-based label, Warner Classics, combines with its sister label Erato to make a leading global classical music recording company, with an artist roster covering all genres of classical music. Roma Travestita, de Sá’s debut album, is released internationally on 16 September 2022.
