International artist management company Sulivan Sweetland has announced the signing of Scottish ensemble, the Maxwell Quartet, for general management.

The quartet, which combines Scottish traditional music and classical quartet repertoire, performs across the UK and abroad, with plans to visit the US, Canada and the Netherlands as well as venues across the UK before the end of the year.

Sulivan Sweetland said: ‘We are constantly seeking out artists that tastefully challenge convention and provide unique concert experiences for a global audience, so are delighted to welcome the Maxwell Quartet to our boutique list. We believe strongly in the power and importance of Chamber Music and are certain the Maxwell Quartet will continue to breathe energy and expertise into this field.’

Founded in 2010, the Maxwell Quartet is formed of four close friends, who met as postgraduate students at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow. Maxwell Quartet’s debut CD on Linn Records was released in March 2019, reaching number three in the classical specialist charts. The ensemble’s second album, released in 2021 reached number six.

The ensemble has held residencies at venues including Oxford University, Perth Concert Hall and at chamber music festivals including their own Loch Shiel festival in the Scottish west highlands. The quartet are an associate artist at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and at Scotland’s Music at Paxton Festival.
