Music Minds Matter, Help Musicians’ sister charity, has announced the appointment of a new leadership team, with Cliff Fluet as charity chair and Grace Meadows joining as its head.

Fluet, who is a partner at law firm Lewis Silkin LLP and current vice-chair of Help Musicians takes over from Silvia Montello and will oversee the charity’s strategy, engagement and governance as well as its board. He is joined by Grace Meadows, former campaign director at Music for Dementia and music therapist, who will lead the charity’s strategies on industry collaboration and financial support. Both new appointments will work closely with Sarah Woods, chief executive of both Help Musicians and Music Minds Matter.

Fluet said: ‘I’m thrilled to be joining Music Minds Matter at this exciting time. Having observed its evolution from a campaign, to helpline and now to a full-blown charity in my role at Help Musicians, I am excited to work with Sarah, Grace and our amazing Board of Trustees… to provide this much needed support, advocacy and assistance not only to musicians, but all those working in the music ecosystem.’

Currently vice-chair of Help Musicians, Fluet has over 25 years of experience in the music industry and wider creative sector in roles including chair of the Ivors Academy Trust. Fluet and Meadows’s appointments come as Music Minds Matter partners with BBC Radio 6 Music to raise awareness about mental health support for musicians and industry professionals.

Meadows said: ‘Knowing the scale of need but also the change we want to make across the industry to help make it a beacon for positive mental health makes this a really exciting time to be joining Music Minds Matter. The partnerships we will be developing will be innovative and impactful and I’m looking forward to working with the industry to bring everyone together to focus on what we can achieve together through collaboration.’

The Music Minds Matter mental health support line is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week online and on 0808 802 8008.
