National Youth Choirs of Great Britain announces audition details

The National Youth Choirs of Great Britain has announced the details for its annual auditions, which will open for booking on 7 September at midday, and close on 10 October 2021. The auditions themselves will take place in October and November. 

For the second year running, auditions are taking place entirely online through Zoom, meaning young singers across the UK can audition from their homes or schools.

National Youth Boys’ and Girls’ Choirs members are aged 9-14 and National Youth Training Choir members are aged 15-18. 

Successful applicants will take part in the highest quality residential courses and concerts twice a year in spring and summer. It is hoped that a return to full in-person singing will be possible in 2022.

Auditions cost £20 and financial assistance is available for anyone who requires support with the cost of auditions and, if offered a place, the future ongoing costs of membership, courses and travel. More information is available here: https://www.nycgb.org.uk/financial-assistance

'It’s never been more important to emphasise that we want to meet singers from all backgrounds and across all musical styles. We particularly encourage young people of Black, Asian & ethnically diverse backgrounds and those who are disabled to audition. We are also determined that household income should not be a barrier to being part of NYCGB and our Financial Assistance Scheme is there to support those who need it, including the cost of an audition.
