The Association of British Orchestras (ABO) is continuing its partnership with Classical Music for the upcoming ABO Classical Music Awards. With winners revealed in January at the annual ABO conference in Bristol, the awards will take a new form from 2024.

Starting next year, the ABO Classical Music Awards will aim to celebrate the people who make the UK classical music sector brilliant – whatever their role, or team. Instead of being linked to specific management roles, as they have been for the past decade, the three awards will be based on the ABO’s values – inspiration, innovation and collaboration – as well as on the nominee’s contribution to the ABO’s five priority strategic areas: equity, diversity and inclusion; learning and development; green orchestras; health and wellbeing; and innovation and digital.

Nominations for individuals or groups embodying these values and priorities are welcomed until 1 December 2023. Nominations will be reviewed in December 2023 by a judging panel which aims to be representative and to reflect sector expertise across the wider ABO membership.

Any individual of an ABO member organisation can make a nomination, but you can’t nominate yourself. Each organisation’s leader will be consulted for comment on the content of shortlisted nominations.

You can find more information about the reimagined Awards here and you can make your nomination using this form.
