BBC Young Musician dates announced

A year after the Category Rounds of the BBC Young Musician 2020 took place, the dates of the final have been announced
The BBC has announced that the final rounds of the 2020 BBC Young Musician competition will be broadcast on 30 April and 1 May 2021, more than a year after the the opening rounds of the competition were held.
The competition's semi-finals were recorded just before the first lockdown last year in March, but the finals had to be postponed until this month.
Both finals will be presented by organist and conductor Anna Lapwood, with a panel chaired by Saffron Hall’s chief executive Angela Dixon. In the semi-final, Dixon is joined by Lisa Tregale, director of the BBC National Orchestra and Choir of Wales; composer John Hardy and double bassist and founder of the Chineke! Orchestra Chi-chi Nwanoku.
The Category Finals last year saw pianist Thomas Luke, oboist Ewan Millar, French horn player Annemarie Federle, percussionist Fang Zhang and violinist Coco Tomita progressing through to the the semi-finals.
