City of London Sinfonia (CLS) has announced its 2023-24 season. Launching in October, the upcoming season will feature a new venue partnership, a collaboration with electronic rock-sitarist BISHI, plus performances at London venues including Kings Place, Cadogan Hall and Southwark Cathedral.
The season will open with the orchestra’s performance as part of Kings Place’s Sound Unwrapped series (29 October). In collaboration with London-born musician, composer and producer BISHI, the orchestra will offer a broad programme presenting BISHI’s own work alongside composers from Debussy, Britten and Purcell to Max Richter and Terry Riley.
CLS chief executive Rowan Rutter said: ‘CLS’ 23-24 season encapsulates everything we do best: explorative new collaborations, celebrating both overlooked and brilliant artists and their work, developing exciting new partnerships, and offering an opportunity to all our audiences wherever they may be, to be a part of the music, and a part of the CLS story’.
The new season also sees CLS return to Cadogan Hall in December for a festive concert featuring pianist Ivana Gavrić before the orchestra partners with Landmark Theatres at New Theatre Peterborough for a concert offering music-lovers, choral singers and choirs the chance to Come and Sing Handel’s Messiah.
Landmark Theatres creative director and CEO Paul Jepson said: ‘We are thrilled to be partnering with City of London Sinfonia and bringing this one of a kind project to our audiences and communities in Peterborough. We are committed to bringing the highest quality live entertainment to our audiences and Come and Sing! Is exactly that. This production is sure to be a fantastic experience for all our music lovers of Peterborough and beyond’.

CLS will kick off 2024 with a return to Cadogan Hall with pianist David Greilsammer who will play and conduct Mozart in his first collaboration with the orchestra. The group will then return to Southwark Cathedral (pictured above) in February for Transformed lives celebrating the artistic and intellectual progress of the early 20th century.
The orchestra continues its work as resident orchestra at Opera Holland Park this summer with upcoming productions include La bohème (19 July to 5 August); the world premiere of Jonathan Dove’s new opera, Itch (22 July to 4 August); and Ruddigore (9 to 12 August).
