UK foundation Donne, Women in Music is set to break the Guinness World Record™ for the ‘Longest Acoustic Music Live-Streamed Concert’ next month, with a 24-hour concert of music exclusively by women and non-binary composers and songwriters.
Let HER MUSIC Play will commence at 12pm on 22 February and conclude at 2pm on 23 February at Sala Brasil in the Embassy of Brazil in London. The event will be live-streamed worldwide on YouTube and will feature a range of repertoire from classical to contemporary, jazz, pop, folk and beyond. The lineup, which is not yet fully revealed, is set to include mezzo-soprano Aigul Akhmetshina, baritone Roderick Williams OBE, sopranos Carolyn Sampson OBE and Helen Lacey, tenors Tim Parker-Langston, Thomas Elwin and Daniel Norman, cellist Hadewich van Gent and string quartet Vulva Voce.
Also set to perform is soprano and Donne Foundation founder Gabriella Di Laccio, who created this initiative. She said: ‘As a woman in music and an artist myself, I am fully committed to fundamentally transforming the music industry, ensuring my role actively contributes to meaningful change. This event is my way of trying to connect people around the world to join me on this cause.’
The Donne Foundation is now inviting artists and public figures to participate, advocate, and contribute to this world record bid. Audiences are also encouraged to get involved with the foundation’s £1 for equality campaign, inviting donations of £1 to support the organisation’s work promoting diversity across the music sector.
