The expansion sees existing agency Wittenberg Artists integrate into Intermusica New York

Classical music and opera artist management agency Intermusica has announced the launch of a new US-based subsidiary Intermusica New York. Intermusica New York aims to ‘enhance the company’s presence across North America’ and ‘foster closer relationships with US and Canadian artists, ensembles, and venues.’

As part of this expansion, New York-based boutique agency Wittenberg Artists has integrated into Intermusica New York. Founder Martin Wittenberg will now lead the new company as its director, reporting to Intermusica founder and chief executive, Stephen Lumsden and joint head of artist management Aimee Chow, and receiving strategic guidance from non-executive chair, Deborah Borda. Associate artist manager Rachel Feldhaus will also join the company.

In a video announcing the expansion, Witterberg said: ‘The New York classical scene is like nothing else. Like everything in New York it’s vibrant, it’s alive, it’s difficult, it’s a fight, it’s a dance. You have, of course, wonderful, storied presenters that we all live working with, that we all know, but in every neighbourhood, you have small concert halls that are popping up, you have all the New York freelancers striving to make their footprint. It is probably not comparable to anywhere else in the world.’

As with Intermusica’s Berlin and Munich offices, The New York team will work closely with Intermusica Artists’ Management Ltd, its headquarters in London, to maintain ‘streamlined operations’ and a ‘cohesive global strategy’. With professional experience in performance, touring, pedagogy, academia, publicity, and management, Martin Wittenberg brings a range of skills to his directorial role.
