Israel Philharmonic turns to Hollywood for messages of hope in pandemic
Thursday, November 26, 2020
The Israel Philharmonic has announced a free-to-view streaming of a pre-Hanukkah celebration of film composer Hans Zimmer.
The gala will feature orchestral performances, behind-the-scenes interviews and messages of hope from a cast including Grammy and Tony Award-winning actress and singer Bette Midler, actress and star of Fauda Ronalee Shimon, actress and model Dar Zuzovsky, music manager Kenny Hamilton and other special guests.
The Israel Philharmonic and its music director Lahav Shani will perform pieces from many of Zimmer’s most popular works.
The event will stream internationally, free of charge.
Registration is free on AFIPO’s website; donations will offset critical Philharmonic revenue losses due to forced pandemic closures.
Marsha Lee, chair of Israel Philharmonic Orchestra Foundation, said: 'With Hans Zimmer and Bette Midler, and so many others, joining the Israel Philharmonic for this spectacular virtual concert I can’t imagine a better way to raise awareness of the important work it does both in Israel and around the world. In these trying times, when the concert halls are closed, this concert will bring beautiful and unforgettable music into homes. The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra Foundation in the UK will continue to promote peace, understanding, and dialogue amongst different cultures, nations and faiths, through the power of music.'
