As part of a new partnership with the Apple-owned record label, the London venue will host a new Platoon Presents concert series showcasing Platoon's roster
Apple-owned Platoon label and London arts venue Kings Place have today announced a new partnership. The collaboration will involve a joint concert series hosted by Kings Place featuring live performances designed to showcase Platoon’s roster of artists.
The new Platoon Presents series will launch on 18 January with a concert combining Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, performed by violinist Daniel Pioro and the Manchester Camerata, with new poetry by Sir Michael Morpurgo read by Stephen Fry.
Kings Place artistic director Sam McShane said: ‘Our new venture between Kings Place and Platoon represents a common vision in classical, contemporary and spoken word programming that places some of the world's most innovative and celebrated artists on our stage throughout 2025. This meeting of two progressive organisations seeks to connect with audiences in a way that simply wouldn't be possible as two separate entities showcasing the power of partnership, at a time where our music industry couldn't need it more.’
The concert series is also set to feature performances from two-time GRAMMY-award winning ATTACCA quartet (14 March), Australia composer-pianist Belle Chen (10 April), poet and spoken word artist Suli Breaks (13 June), as well as from baritone James Newby, pianist Joseph Middleton, soprano Ruby Hughes and lutenist Jonas Nordberg.
On 22 April, the series will feature a special Earth Day event, where audiences will have the chance to hear rock-drummer-turned-classical composer Stewart Copeland in conversation with composer Arash Safaian.
With both organisations based in London’s Kings Cross, the new partnership builds on Kings Place’s existing relationship with Platoon’s owner, tech giant Apple, as a curator on Apple Music Classical, and combines the venue’s reputation as an adventurous music and arts hub with Platoon’s ethos of bringing together a diverse roster of voices from across the globe.
