The London Symphony Orchestra has announced a series of concerts for its autumn season.

As well as six concerts conducted by Sir Simon Rattle at the Barbican, the orchestra is partnering with Soweto Kinch for the London Jazz Festival, in a performance that builds on workshops in 2019 celebrating the history of the Black community in London, and which evolved into a response to Black Lives Matter.

This year's artist in residence is violist Antoine Tamestit who will curate thematically related lunchtime and early-evening chamber performances at LSO St Luke’s.

LSO principal guest conductors Gianandrea Noseda and François-Xavier Roth will conduct a number of concerts in November, and former principal guest conductor Daniel Harding will conduct a concert starring Nicola Benedetti in October.

Sir Simon Rattle said: 'Variety and flexibility are the buzzwords for this season. It is great to be back playing live concerts again, and we want to offer something for everyone, from the iconic Romantic composers, some neglected works by less well-known composers, to the great jazz composers of today. We want to continue exploring a wide range of repertoire, as we have for our digital series of concerts during the lockdowns of 2020 and 2021.'
