Following a trial earlier this year, the new 'through the noise' platform has fully funded its first concert
The first crowdfunded event on the new through the noise platform has reached full funding, a month after the new scheme was trialled.
through the noise is the first crowdfunding platform designed specifically for live classical music. Today the first concert has been confirmed, after hundreds of backers pledged their support for the new initiative, and an additional 50 tickets have been made available.
Through pledging their support, backers were guaranteed tickets to the event if it reached its funding target. If it didn’t, the event would be cancelled and all backers refunded.
The first concert will take place on 9 July, and will feature BBC Young Musician winner Laura van der Heijden and violinist Max Baillie at Hoxton Underbelly.
through the noise co-founder and artistic director Jack Bazalgette said: 'We’ve been overwhelmed by the support for our new way of funding live music. It’s hugely encouraging to find that there is desire amongst audiences not only to experience great performances in-person, but also to be involved in making them happen.
'We’re excited to be in a position to release more tickets to all of our events, and we can’t wait to host Laura and Max at noisenight one on 9 July.'
