Composer and pianist HAVASI has this week announced a global recording agreement with Universal Music Group (UMG).

This new agreement will be effective across HAVASI’s future recorded music, merchandising and brand partnerships and will see him work with Universal Music Austria and the Electrola label. The partnership will make HAVASI’s entire catalogue of 13 albums available digitally for the first time ever.

HAVASI said: ‘I believe you can achieve any goal if you work with a team that shares your vision. Music is a blessing and I’ve always wanted to take the audience on a journey with me. With the help of Universal, this journey will be more exciting than ever.’

Born in 1975, Balázs Havasi began playing the piano at the age of 4, and, at the age of 21, became a teacher at Weiner Leó Conservatory. He is a classically trained pianist, and is a graduate of the Franz Liszt Academy of Music.

Havasi has sold over half a million concert tickets to date. Electrola managing director, Jörg Hellwig, commented: ‘HAVASI combines the skills of a great piano virtuoso with the stage presence of a rock’n’roll star.’

After finishing a five-year contract with EMI in 2005 Havasi chose not to extend his contract, instead establishing his own record company under which he self-released four solo piano albums. His first release with UMG will be a collection of his best-loved tunes alongside a previously unreleased new track. The World of HAVASI will be released on 8 April this year.
