Petroc Trelawny will present BBC Radio 3 Breakfast live from locations across the North East ahead of BBC Proms performances at The Glasshouse in Gateshead

BBC Radio 3’s Breakfast programme will broadcast from the road this month, as Petroc Trelawny presents a week of live shows from locations across North East of England. The tour will start at Lindisfarne off the Northumbrian Coast before taking listeners to Vindolanda, The Bowes Museum and Durham Cathedral.
Trelawny will then present a live Breakfast show from Tynemouth Priory and Castle on 26 July ahead of a weekend of BBC Proms performances at The Glasshouse in Gateshead which is set to include a live, late-night version of BBC Radio 3 show Night Tracks as well as emerging talent on the BBC Introducing stage.
BBC Radio 3 and BBC Proms controller Sam Jackson said: ‘We are delighted to be taking Radio 3 Breakfast on tour across the North East of England, providing what we hope will be the perfect prelude to the BBC Proms weekend at The Glasshouse in Gateshead. These live broadcasts offer a brilliant opportunity to create special connections with audiences around the UK, as we give Radio 3 listeners in the North East and across the whole country the chance to discover more about the history, the culture and the music of the area.’
Each stop on the North East tour will be accompanied by contributions from naturalists and historians offering insight into the rich heritage of the area and live music by local musicians. Contributing artists include Emily Hoile, principal harpist of Germany’s WDR Symphony Orchestra, folk musician Mike Tickell, horn player Letty Stott, clarinettist Robert Plane and the Gould Piano Trio, organist Daniel Cook, and folk singer Bill Elliott.
Trelawny said: ‘I am thrilled to be presenting Breakfast from the North East of England, adding these beautiful locations to our series of road trips. I have some fantastic memories of our previous live broadcasts – too many highlights to mention – and I can’t wait to share the wealth of history and music of this area with all our listeners across the UK .’
