Schott Music appoints joint directors

Paul Dyer and Roberto García started jointly managing the company at the beginning of the month following the resignation of Sam Rigby.

Music publisher Schott Music Ltd. has today announced the appointment of Paul Dyer and Roberto García to the role of joint directors. Dyer and García started jointly managing the company from 1 July following the resignation of Sam Rigby. 

Invited by Schott Music’s board of directors, both Dyer and García have been selected from the publisher’s existing ranks, with Dyer holding the role of head of operations and García that of head of international sales & marketing. 

The group’s managing director, Dr Thomas Sertl said: 'We are very pleased that Paul and Rob have taken over the duties as directors of our affiliate Schott Music Ltd. Based on their many years of experience at Schott Music Ltd. and in the music publishing industry, we are certain that they will further develop and expand Schott Music Ltd.'s position in the music industry and thus play an important role in the success of the Schott Music Group.’ 

Dyer, who has worked at Schott Music Ltd. since 1985, will manage the administration & operations of the company as well as overseeing the management of its London shop. He said: 'Schott Music has been part of my life for nearly 40 years, and I feel very privileged to take on this role and delighted to have been given the opportunity to lead such a strong team'. 

García joined Schott Music Ltd. in 2004, a decade after beginning work in the music publishing industry. In addition to the responsibilities of his new role, García will oversee the contemporary music department as well as the sales and marketing department. He commented that he is 'very excited to be taking on this new role and to work jointly with Paul in leading the company forward into the future.' 

Founded in 1770, Schott Music group is leading music and media publisher with branches in 10 countries. The group encompasses traditional publishing houses such as Ernst Eulenburg & Co., Atlantis, Hohner, Fürstner, and Cranz as well as publishing seven specialist magazines. The group also runs record labels, Wergo and Intuition.
