The new cohort will undertake four residencies with partner organisations Britten Pears Arts, City, University of London, Sound Festival and Dartington Music Summer School and Festival

New development programme VOICEBOX, designed to support advanced singers specialising in contemporary vocal performance, is set to welcome its first cohort later this month. Patricia Auchterlonie, Hester Dart, Tara Lily Klein, Oskar McCarthy, Sarah Parkin, and Pascal Zurek will participate in the programme until August 2024.
Auchterlonie, Dart, Klein, McCarthy, Parkin and Zurek will embark on four intensive residency periods, hosted by partner organisations Britten Pears Arts (25 September – 1 October 2023), City, University of London (10 – 12 January 2024), Sound Festival, Aberdeen (2 – 6 April 2024) and Dartington Music Summer School and Festival (10 – 17 August 2024).
Designed and led by soprano Juliet Fraser, the fully funded course is designed to be compatible with each programme member’s freelance career and prepare each cohort for work within the industry with well-rounded guidance on areas including programming, technology (amplification, sound design and electronics), wellbeing, and navigating the industry. The singers will also learn about commissioning, and will each commission and perform a new work as part of the programme.
The first cohort’s experience on the programme will be documented by filmmaker Jessie Rodger, and participants can use the promotional material produced to further their professional development.
