The Association of British Orchestras will bring its annual conference to Bristol from 24 to 26 January, focusing on the theme of Creative Solutions
The Association of British Orchestras (ABO) has today revealed the details of its annual conference, set to take place on 24 – 26 January 2024. Hosted by Bristol Beacon, the conference follows the theme of ‘Creative Solutions’, tackling challenges related to the recruitment, technology, sustainability and impact of British orchestras.
With panels, performances, ‘fireside chats’ and ‘deep dive’ sessions, the conference offers delegates perspectives from over 40 prominent figures from across the fields of music, culture and politics, as well as voices from outside the sector. Guests are set to include incoming chair of the Bristol Beacon Jonathan Dimbleby, shadow culture secretary Thangam Debbonaire MP, plus many more yet to be announced.
ABO CEO Judith Webster said: ‘In acknowledging the challenging times we are currently experiencing, and the specific impact on the arts, the 2024 Conference will be an opportunity to share creative solutions – past, present and future. We want to hear about recent successes, work in progress – including the challenges and diversions dealt with along the way, and future solutions yet to be realised.’
Over 300 delegates from every part of the UK’s classical music industry will come together at the newly-refurbished venue alongside international delegates from the British Council’s Professional Exchange Programme. The three-day conference intends to give a platform to new voices and familiar voices and provoke debate and dialogue between delegates. It will also include the newly re-imagined ABO Classical Music Awards.
Bookings are now open, with discounted early booking rates available until 14 December. You can book your place at the ABO’s 2024 conference here.
