London’s Guildhall School of Music and Drama is set to celebrate the 10th anniversary of its Milton Court concert venue next week. The school will honour a decade of performance at the venue with an evening of celebratory concerts on 25 October.

Milton Court comprises three performance spaces for the School’s musicians, actors, production artists and alumni to present their work. The Theatre, Studio Theatre and Concert Hall opened in 2013 and are part of the School’s partnership with the Barbican, presenting performances that are part of the Barbican’s music programme.

Next week’s celebratory concert will take place in the Concert Hall and will feature Guildhall Chamber Orchestra under the baton of Joshua Weilerstein. The programme is designed to reflect the venue’s decade history and will feature works by Mendelssohn, Vaughan Williams, Gershwin, Bernstein, Florence Price, and Ginastera alongside the world premiere of Stannum, a work by Guildhall’s associate head of composition, Dr Hollie Harding.

Alongside the main performance, foyer music will be provided by jazz quartet The Skovilles. Audiences can also step outside to view curated projections on the Milton Court building showcasing performances at the venue across the past decade. Examples of props and costumes created by Guildhall students will also be on display around the building.

The concert is part of a wider programme celebrating a decade of Milton Court which will also include masterclasses, concerts and Guildhall Jazz Festival.
