The label and its releases will be acquired by PARMA Recordings, but founders Peter Kermani and Susan Bush will continue to serve as artistic directors of Albany Records
New-Hampshire based PARMA Recordings has announced its acquisition of Albany Records and its nearly 2,000 releases. Albany’s catalogue will now be available to stream on all platforms alongside releases from PARMA and its four labels; Navona, Ravello, Big Round, and Ansonica Record.
The acquisition builds on the ‘mutuality of both parties’ artistic visions’ and is intended to help Albany’s catalog ‘continue to resonate with classical music enthusiasts.’ Founders of the label Peter Kermani and Susan Bush will continue to serve as artistic directors of Albany Records.
Kermani said: ‘Albany's journey over the past decades has been one of passion and dedication. Seeing it find a new home with PARMA, an institution that shares our vision for the future of classical music, is both comforting and gratifying.’
Bush added: ‘We’ve always believed in preserving the richness of classical music while also making room for new voices. With PARMA, Albany’s legacy is in good hands.’
Founded in Albany, New York, USA 1987, Albany Records has built an extensive catalogue of classical music recordings including orchestral music by Roy Harris, Morton Gould, Don Gillis, George Lloyd and Andrei Eshpai.
PARMA founder Bob Lord said he was ‘honoured’ to welcome Albany Records to the PARMA family: ‘Albany’s historical focus on excellence and innovation in the arts mirrors our own values at PARMA. We are committed to upholding Albany’s legacy, and to ensuring that their extraordinary catalog of classical music continues to reach new audiences.’
