The survey aims to provide the music industry with insight into where improvements in diversity and inclusion are most needed

UK Music, the organisation which represents the collective interests of the UK's music industry, has launched the 2024 edition of its biennial Workforce Diversity Survey.
Focusing on members of the music industry who work behind the scenes in the industry, the survey uses data gathered from studios, management agencies, music publishers, music education providers, record labels, music licensing companies and the live music sector to highlight areas of positive change and, more importantly, to offer insight into where improvements are needed regarding diversity and inclusion.
UK Music interim chief executive Tom Kiehl said: ‘It’s really important that we track the diversity of those that work behind the scenes in our industry. We need this data so we can identify where we are doing well and where we could improve. To get quality information we need people from across the industry and all over the UK to fill out the survey – so I urge everyone who can to take part and share with your colleagues as well.’
Launched in 2016, the survey asks questions on ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, neurodiversity, caring responsibilities, religion and age. UK Music will publish the results of later this year. The survey is set to close at the end of the month (29 February) and respondents will also get a chance to win one of five £100 vouchers.
