The new scheme will introduce young musicians aged 15 to 18 to the possibilities of a career in music
The Benedetti Foundation has announced the launch of a new free Youth Ambassador Programme. The scheme is designed to offer singers and instrumentalists aged 15 to 18 an insight into ‘what a career in music could look like’.
Participants in the programme will have opportunities to meet professionals from different areas of the arts world and explore different careers in the Arts. Through mentorship and training with performers and specialists, participants will also learn to teach, develop their own teaching styles, broaden their performance and career experience and receive support for balancing their mental and physical health with musical workload.
Calum Hugan, head of the Benedetti Foundation’s Youth Ambassador Programme, said: ‘We are so excited to be launching the Ambassador Youth Programme for 15 – 18-year-olds. It is vital for the future of music education that we showcase what a career in music might look like and the numerous pathways available to young people. This programme is free and aims to give an insight into music career options over the course of three months. I wish there had been something like this when I was this age and really hope any young person of 15 – 18 who is interested in music might consider signing up.’
During each intake, programme participants will receive three online group mentoring sessions per month, plus six online training sessions across the scheme and in-person Youth Ambassador and ‘hands-on experience’ days. The first course will run from 9 September to 13 December 2024, with future intakes planned for each autumn and spring term.
Applications for the scheme are now open, and the submission forms can be found here. Further information about the programme can be found here. Applications close on 29 July.
