Talent development charity City Music Foundation (CMF) has launched applications for the 2024 edition of its Artist Programme. Emerging classical, jazz, folk and world music talent can now apply to receive Foundation support as 2024 CMF Artists.

Following a review of their work with artists over the last decade, CMF has adjusted the focus of its Artist Programme. Whereas in the past applications were invited from early-career artists with the aim of helping them gain recognition within the industry, applications for the 2024 programme will be centred around funding for a particular project.

CMF’s co-founder and CEO Dr Clare Taylor said: ‘After a turbulent few years for the performing arts, CMF has drawn on its 10 years of experience to identify those parts of the Artists Programme which have proved most effective and valuable for our musicians. Our streamlined programme will focus on funding specific projects which would otherwise be impossible, and which we hope, with the additional support, will transform their working lives.’

Alongside funding of up to £10,000 for their project and support for its duration, successful applicants will also have the chance to participate in the professional development programme CMF has offered its artists in previous years, which includes mentoring and promotion for their performances. Applicants will need to complete an online form with their project proposal and expected budget as well as their musical credentials and links to videos before the application deadline of 25 March.

Successful applicants will join current and previous CMF artists including cellist Margarita Balanas, pianists George Fu and Samson Tsoy, the Foyle-Stsura Duo, violinist Emily Sun and mezzo-sopranos Lotte Betts-Dean and Helen Charlston.
